Some good savings last night

So I went up to Asda with Jack last night before we all headed back to his flat. I had no intentions of buying anything. But really you know I couldn't walk away from a bargain.

My yellow sticker shopping from last night.....

This had been reduced several times, and I was there when it had been marked down for the final time.

Pears orignally 90p - paid 10p

Nectarines originally £1.50 - paid 10p

Figs originally £1.00 - paid 10p

Cauliflower was £1.00 paid 10p, Little Gem lettuce was 60p paid 10p, Sprouts I think the orignally price was £1.00 but paid 10p.

Sorry for the blurry photo these chicken breasts were £4.25, I paid 75p,

They were big fat ones from the instore butcher section. Can't believe the original price, shocking!

Diced beef, usually £5.50, 75p paid for these.

What a treat some Wagu beef rump.

I peeled back the yellow stickers so you could see the original prices.
I could never afford to buy at those prices!

75p each, and they are huge thick pieces so I will cut each one in two.

I have just added up the original cost of everything, paying normal/full price this shopping would have cost me £50.49, which is really shocking, I just couldn't afford to buy it at that price.

Wait for it.....

I paid only £5.40

So I am one happy girl.

  1. Blimey! I wish my Asda would reduce stuff like that! You got some corkers there. Mind you, I never go at the right time. A couple of weeks ago we needed to go out for something and went to Asda just before 8, I got a loaf of bread for 20p and some rolls for about the same at the bakery section. I was so excited because I am never in the right place at the right time so it was a happy accident!

I notice my Asda have a reduced section in the chilled area on a Friday morning, but it's never anything worthwhile and not reduced particularly well. I would have snapped up that beef too. I need to go shopping with you some day!

    Have a lovely Thursday x

    1. Hi Sadie, I usually go to Morrisons on Sunday afternoons, as in the evenings there are a small group of people who reguarly go up to Asda and they act like a bunch of savages and I wouldn't stoop that low, they just grab and throw into their trolleys without even thinking about it. I got there at the right time, and one man was looking in my trolley and muttering because I got there first, yellow sticker shopping can be an unpleasant experience sometimes.
Have a great day yourself, hope you feel better now you have got the "nasty neighbour" stuff off your chest. xx

  2. What amazing savings Marlene! It all looks so fresh too. I never see anything reduced like that in our area. Your meat purchases should last quite a while :) xx

    1. Hi Angie, yes it will keep us going, I still have some left in the freezer from the other week, the freezer is crammed now so I must use things up now before getting anymore. xx

  3. You are so lucky to live so near to somewhere you can get such bargains. I often feel I pay a premium for living so far out in the middle of nowhere. As long as you have a good, reliable freezer, long may you keep saving!

    1. I know I guess its swings and roundabouts with everything isn't it, I am near the shops and get the bargains, then on the other hand I would rather live somewhere more peaceful.

    1. Thankyou, I only buy what we like, I wouldn't pick up yellow stickers just for the sake of it.

  6. Brilliant bargains. I was once in Asda about 10pm to get a prescription and did get lots of 10p yellow stickers but I'm not usually out and about at that time and during the day they only take a few pence off.

  9. Blimey, Marlene, you had some fantastic bargains! I don't have an Asda near me unfortunately. I've just been catching up on your recent posts and am sorry about Charley and Daisy, but glad Doris and Chuck are happy :)

  10. That's incredible! You are such a smart shopper. I buy meat on sale, too, and freeze it.

  12. Really pleased for you with the yellow stickers; isn't it a great feeling when you hit those reduced shelves at just the right time?! I wasn't as lucky as you but I did get fruit, veg & meat at 1/4 price from tesco the other eve: £28 for £7. So well done!
